Junior Wrestling

DWC Kids Team

Enrollment (Grades Kindergarden-5th): Signup's for the 2006/2007 season will be held on Wed. October 25th & Wed. November 1st at Huntley Middle School in the main lobby from 6:00-7:00pm. The fee for the 2006/2007 season will be $ 35.00 for each wrestler, which is non-refundable. The fee includes registration with the IKWF & USA Wrestling, entry fees for approved tournaments, special guest clinics, a T-Shirt, Pizza Parties and Awards Banquet. The DeKalb Wrestling Club will provide each wrestler with a wrestling bag, tournament singlet, warm up shorts, & headgear. The equipment is the property of the DeKalb Wrestling Club. If your wrestler's equipment is lost or stolen, you will be responsible: $60 per warm up jacket(if issued) $40 per singlet, $15 per travel bag, $15 per headgear, and $10 per warm up shorts. Please keep track of your clothing especially during tournaments. There is a saying that goes, "Champions Come In Pairs". If you know of anyone who would make a great partner for your child or a wrestler in our club, please encourage him or her to join.

Practice Facility: Practices will be held at DeKalb High School, upstairs in the wrestling room. Practices for the 2006/2007 season will begin Monday, November 13th, 2006 and will continue to be held on Monday & Wednesday nights from 6:00-7:30pm. Optional Thursday night practices will be held when scheduling allows for more advanced wrestlers. Please check with a coach for times and approval to practice on Thursdays. The drop off and pick up locations for your wrestler(s) are to be at the back entrance of the school. The younger wrestlers should be walked into and out of the school. Please be on time for both pick up and drop off.

Season Starts: Our first tournament of the season will be the "Dog Fight Tournament" December 3rd, 2006 at Wauconda High School. On December 17, 2006 we will be co-hosting the NIU Huskie Kids Open along with the NIU Wrestling Program and NIU Elite Wrestling Club. This will be held at DeKalb High School. We will need lots of parents and DeKalb High School wrestlers to volunteer on that day for concession help, table help, and bracketing. If you can help in any way, please contact Matt or Stacey Roach about volunteering for this tournament or our DeKalb Kids Club tournament on February 11, 2007 at DeKalb High School. These tournaments are big fundraisers for our club and also excellent opportunities for the community to come out and cheer on our young athletes. As they put forth so much effort and determination in the practice room, it means so much to our kids to hear the cheers and encouragement at these events. Everyone's help and support is very much appreciated.

Junior Wrestling
A FREE program for pre-school through 4th grade kids. This program provides a fun environment for kids to learn wrestling fundamentals and goal setting, build self confidence and improve physical condition and flexibility. Junior Wrestling runs approximately 6 -7 weeks, starting the last week of October. Practices are held on Wednesday nights from 6:30 - 7:30, in the Huntley Middle School main gym. A tournament will be held on the last night of the program, all participating wrestlers will receive awards. There is no registration... just show up and have fun!!
